"This series began as a tool  I used to capture the accidental sublimeness of the part. If you look at a tiny piece of a larger canvas it has its own perfect balance, which I believe comes from the unselfconsciousness of its creation. When painting a canvas, even if it is abstract, conscious decisions are made. This self-consciousness can be seen in the resulting work, and sometimes makes it rigid and stuttering. I hoped that through these photographs of the details I could discover the secret to their spontaneity.

These presently exist only in digital form, bit I would be very interested in printing them".
